What to wear hiking in the Southwest?

The southwest has confusing weather whether that be New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona or Utah. You never know if it will be unforgiving sweltering heat or a cool light rain with overcast. These are some clothing items I recommend that are universal for a nice hike. Now, as much as we would all love to be those Instagram models wearing a sports bra, hair down and shorts in hiking photos us hiking girls know that is a no-go. I can not even imagine how sun burnt I would be and how in pain I would be if I fell into a cactus. I also did not include shorts in this because I have yet to find the perfect hiking shorts that don't make you look like your Aunt on a July 4th BBQ at your parents house or shorts that turn into underwear your first 10 minutes of hiking. Anyways, here are a list of my favorite pieces of clothing for hiking.

Cabela's Women's Rimrock Hikers:

These bad boys are all leather and the sole of the shoe is so gnarly you feel like you could scale a glass skyscraper in Manhattan, NY. I have owned many hiking boots and these are by far my favorite because of how easy they are to clean versus material and how comfy they are. I also recommend if you are going to be hiking in backwoods to always wear boots versus hiking sneakers because of the support given on your ankles.

Columbia Womens Womens Tamiami II Long Sleeve Shirt

I got this shirt in white to keep me cool and to shield myself from the sun. This shirt is great to just throw on over a tank top in case you get chilly or to save you from getting a sun burn. Overall, its a great staple piece to have for hiking in any event whether cold or hot.

Kyoden "The Adventurous Pant"

These pants are made of a light weight material and serve to keep you cool and look great on. They cinch at the bottom so they can tuck into boots nicely.

New Balance Womens Perfect Tank

This tank top is wonderful because it's breathable and not constricting. Any type of tank top will do but this one has been a favorite because of the soft material.

Sockwell Women's Ascend II Crew Moderate Graduated Compression Sock

Made of wool and designed for long hikes with cushion on the toes and heels, these socks are everything you ever wanted for hiking. Since they are made of wool they keep your feet temperature regulated and not sweaty. Also they're cute!
